Tuesday Update – Europe
Thomas CotterellShare
OUR selection for your perusal today comes from across Europe, but excluding the UK, which generally gets covered separately. As usual, we cover a good mix of old-time and ‘modern’ classics.
The German Fluorite with Malachite specimen, accompanied by a painting of it, is worth a special mention as something a little more unusual. The Native Sulphur crystal from Sicily is a particularly fine example of crystal form and on the theme of sulphur, we offer a couple of really well-crystallized specimens from the former sulphur deposit at Machów mine in Poland, including an orange-colour Native Sulphur and a superb ‘bow-tie’ Baryte spray.
There are a couple of rarities from Scandinavia, including the tin sulphide species Herzenbergite in a polished section, and a really well-crystallized Chondrodite on matrix from Kopparberg. There are so many other wonderful pieces to discover, so have a good look through and immerse yourself in the mineralogical treasures that Europe has provided.
Elsewhere, we'd like to say a big thank you to all of our customers who visited us at the East Coast Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show in Springfield, MA over the past weekend. Ian, Debbie and Stew had a wonderful time engaging with everyone and showcasing our stunning range of top-class mineral specimens.
Our next show is the Hardrock Summit in Denver, where we will be based at The Westin Hotel Westminster, 10600 Westminster Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020 USA from September 10-13. If you are coming along and wish to see specific specimens in person then please do contact us and we will arrange for individual items to be there for viewing. It might be something you have seen on our website, or simply “do we have one of…”. Let us know and we will do our very best to assist you.
Next week’s update will be a surprise one. With summer holiday season in full swing our normal longer-term planning has slipped back, but we will be onto our selections straight away. Stay tuned on Tuesday to see what we have to offer.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are all situated at our UK showroom.
