This is a great historic specimen from the famous tin-mining area of Horní Slavkov (Schlaggenwald), Karlovy Vary Region, Bohemia, in northwest Czech Republic. Despite bearing a little damage where individual Fluorite crystals have been chipped - revealing their deep purple coloured core - it still presents a fascinating paragenetic study for those interested in this ancient mining district. The core of the specimen is a rib of Quartz veinstone bearing tiny inclusions of dark brown Cassiterite. The Quartz is terminated as small, poorly defined crystals on one side coated in a dusting of beige coloured clay (possibly Nacrite). Then, crowning one end of the ridge of Quartz are blocky, cubic, intergrown Fluorite crystals, purple within, but encased in white, which appears to be a combination of white Fluorite and layers of Nacrite. These Fluorite crystals reach 1.3 cm on edge. Accompanying the specimen is a very old (probably later 19th century) handwritten German label.
