Known for some of the finest and largest Anatase crystals ever found, the Hardangervidda (West) area in the old county of Hordaland, western Norway is now part of a National Park and so no collecting is allowed. This specimen from David Hardman's collection (no. 7636) was labelled as Viveli which is where the nearest accomodation is, but is probably from the Geiteryggen occurrence just outside the National Park boundary. It is an individual, 1.4 cm tall, by 1.1 cm wide, pyramidal crystal presenting the classic very dark blue colour that shows up well through internal reflections under intense lighting. It has the tiniest piece of white Albite matrix attached to one side and its base is a fractured surface revealing a brown core. It has slight chipping to its upper edges in a couple of places, but shows excellent shape, with a nice dividing line across its termination.
