Tuesday Update – England
Thomas CotterellShare
AS promised, today is an English update and if that is what is needed to get England’s football team winning then, perhaps, we should have a run of English-themed listings. Argentina is up next in the Semi-Final tomorrow (Wednesday) and one hopes that things don’t get Messi!
Coincidentally, staying with the English theme, we have been working behind the scenes on a major upgrade to our UK website – crystalclassics.co.uk – to bring it in line with the branding of our .com website. So, for all our UK customers, stay tuned for news later this week as we aim to bring you a new online experience that better reflects our roots and the wonderful world of British minerals.
Also on the theme of England, this coming Saturday and Sunday (July 18-19) Ian and Diana will be at the North Pennines Mineral Expo held in St. John’s Chapel in Weardale, just a few miles from our UK Mining Ventures’ mines. If our suite of specimens today is not enough for you, then they will be presenting even more British classics, as well as recent Fluorite finds from Diana Maria mine and jewellery from the Viridis Gems range at the show.
So, to the specimens today. Our offering features quite a broad range of species and localities, many of which are famous to collectors, not just based in the UK.
The capped Quartz from Wheal Jane in Cornwall is an oddity – a real little treasure - and remaining in Cornwall the Smoky Quartz from Geevor mine belonged to the mine captain who was awarded the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for his selfless rescue attempt in 1980. In northern England many famous classics are represented, especially the iron mines of West Cumbria. The Midlands don’t miss out either, with several interesting pieces from the Derbyshire Peak District and a very colourful classic from Judkins quarry near Nuneaton.
Have a great week and good luck England!
Please note: Today's featured specimens are all situated at our UK showroom.
