This is a fine older display specimen from the famous Mill Close mine in Derbyshire. It comes with two older labels, one typed, recording, "Calcite and Fluorite. Mill Close, Darley Dale, Derby. Pickfords purchase Nov. 1961.", and another handwritten. Upon it, a bed of small, pale cream-coloured scalenohedral Calcite crystals encrusts a large angular fragment of crystallized Fluorite-Sphalerite-Galena veinstone. The Calcite covers most of three sides of the specimen with a small area of well-formed colourless to grey cubes of Fluorite showing through and with the base free from Calcite. The many Calcite crystals are in very good condition with a few with damaged tips as would be expected in a specimen of this form and size, but overall it is in very fine shape.
