Cornish Amethyst is well-known, especially at mines in the vicinity of Land's End and around the China Clay District in central Cornwall. It is not, however, well-known at the small Cathedral mine near St. Day. This miniature specimen would, therefore, make a nice addition to a Cornish Quartz suite. Upon it, a small piece of white Quartz veinstone has a cavity lined with small pyramidal crystals whose tips present a pale purple Amethystine colour. Under magnification the zoning looks superb.
