Sparkling golden Pyrite forms rounded clusters made up of many tiny cubic crystals densely coating brown lenticular Siderite crystals upon a bed of finely crystallized Milky Quartz. Labelled simply as "Cornwall" this pretty large miniature specimen is from the John A. Jones Collection (no. 628) having been acquired by him in 1969. This Pyrite-Siderite-Quartz combination is indeed typical of several mines in Cornwall, but if we cast the net a little further it is very reminiscent of specimens from the famous Virtuous Lady mine, just across the county border in Devon. There is a little bruising to the tops of a few of the Pyrite clusters, but this is still a very showy piece and very reasonably priced. It comes with John A Jones' original handwritten label.
