Tuesday Update – Slovakia
Thomas CotterellShare
AS spring is here it is a great time to dust off the cobwebs and have a thorough clean. As I can’t find my Hoover or Dyson, I will have to bring out my "Slo-vac"!
As the eastern part of the former state of Czechoslovakia it seems appropriate to include this update having run a suite of specimens from Czechia a couple of weeks ago. Slovakia has a smaller mineral diversity compared to its more populus neighbour but still has many iconic species some of which are represented in today’s listing and many of which are featured in the stunning recent book by Albert Russ which we have available too.
In a shift from previous updates, our twice-weekly newsletters will vary in their theme between Tuesday and Friday and each update will have a broader range of prices as witnessed today.
As Easter approaches, we will, on Friday, be celebrating Good Friday with not just good, but seriously great specimens.
In other news, you might well be aware that our UK Mining Ventures operations are actively engaged in reopening the famous Boltsburn mine in Weardale. As a company we are at the forefront of pioneering mining projects. To aid exploration we are embracing modern technology to assist us.
Tomorrow sees the start of a groundbreaking new phase of research using a team of local mining experts from Newcastle. With approval already granted for the installation of a new observation wheel called “Whey Aye” – the tallest Ferris Wheel in Europe – our team has developed patented software called “Whey AI” which will enable us to see deep underground, locating Fluorite-lined crystal pockets with ease.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are all situated at our UK showroom.
