A superb example of well-formed Chalcopyrite crystals (and twinned crystals) from the classic Eastern European occurrence at Banska Stiavnica (Schemnitz) in Slovakia. This large cabinet-sized specimen is dominated by a 20 mm wide twinned Chalcopyrite crystal, with other tetragonal crystals to over 10 mm across on, and between, a bed of upright needle Quartz crystals with minor Pyrite and Sphalerite crystals all upon layered Sphalerite-Pyrite-Chlorite. Some of the Quartz crystals have damage to their terminations, but this does not detract from the beautiful, large undamaged Chalcopyrite crystals with their wonderful triangular growth patterns on the crystal faces. It comes with one previous collection label (G. Barker) but another collection number (4625) attached to the specimen suggests that its history goes back further.
