Tuesday Update – Halloween 🎃
Thomas CotterellShare
IT is still a few days away, but at the weekend many of us will be celebrating Halloween, or simply locked indoors hiding from hoards of roaming zombies, aka local children. This year I have invested in gummy sweets that look like real eyeballs, and I can’t wait to see their faces. Oh, wait, I might need an extra pair of eyes to see that!
At this time in the year, we like to give our update a spooky theme, or at least a range of minerals with some link to the tradition.
These include minerals from the Transylvanian mountains in Romania, and thankfully we have some crackers for you to get your teeth into. From Sylvanite, named directly after the region where it was first found, to crystallized Native Gold from the famous ancient mines at Roşia Montană.
Then, we have crystals containing phantoms, skeletal crystals, tooth-like crystals, including blood-red Proustite, and axes (Axinite). We have crystals with the appearance of pumpkins, both in terms of their orange colour, and barrel shape (Campylite) and blood-red Eisenkiesel – Quartz with inclusions of Hematite too.
We have no fire, but for brimstone we can offer Native Sulphur from Sicilly. Then for toxic treats we present Native Arsenic and mercury in the form of Cinnabar.
And watch out for the Devil in the form of Devilline and the meteorite from Canyon Diablo – the Devil’s Canyon. Temptation is all around, but thankfully only in the form of mineral specimens. Stay safe out there this weekend and we wish you more treats than tricks.
Finally, thank you to everyone who visited our booth at the Munich Show. It was incredibly busy, but meeting everyone provides us with such a buzz.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are situated at both our US and UK showrooms.
