Like a rare coral, or a wispy branching fungus, this bright white finely stalactitic Aragonite from Jelšava, in Revúca County, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia presents many similarities to the variety 'Flos Ferri', or Flowers of Iron, seen in the Austrian Magnesite mines. Interestingly, although simply recorded as from Jelšava, there are Magnesite mines nearby too, suggesting perhaps a similar geological occurrence. Either way, this type of Aragonite has been given the name Eisenblutte and is rare from Jelšava. At small cabinet size this is not only spectacular, but is a great size for display too. Ex Simone and Peter Huber Collection.
