The swirling patterns of the twisted, bladed, Boulangerite-included Calcite crystals making up this dome-like hemisphere is enough to entrance you. So distinctive, this style and association is iconic to Herja mine in Romania, but most specimens were extracted many decades ago and few are so perfectly symmetrical in their shape. The Calcite crystals are included with minute needles of metallic grey Boulangerite which is what provides the colour. The raised ribbons of included Calcite crystals are intergrown over the surface of the specimen in various directions, dotted here and there with white rice-grain crystals of Calcite to around 2 mm. A fascinating and wonderful form of Calcite from this famous occurrence, and in superb overall condition.
