This unusual and rare specimen of Acanthite from the famous historical mining area of Banská Bystrica, Slovakia presents as a metallic dull lead-grey coating over a fairly large, stepped, individual Quartz crystal but with its termination missing, leaving the Acanthite as a partial cast. Creamy white intergrown micro-crystals of Calcite, yellow-brown Sphalerite, golden Chalcopyrite and blue-grey Galena are also present on the surface of the Quartz crystal. An unusual display, probably dating to the 19th century. Ex Martin Bohaty Collection.
