Tangdanite is a relatively recently (2012) named mineral, closely related to Tyrolite with which it looks similar visually. Indeed, it was formerly known to collectors under the unofficial name of clinotyrolite as a calcium copper arsenate sulphate rather than a calcium copper arsenate carbonate. This toenail-sized massive Quartz matrix has the rare species Tangdanite forming a superb 1.3 cm diameter glossy pearlescent blue-green flat-lying disc-like spray. It comes from the Bartolomej mining field in Slovakia where the best examples of this new species have been found.
