Despite being an important historic locality for Chondrodite, crystallized specimens from the Kaveltorp mines near Kopparberg in Sweden are exceedingly rare in private collections or for sale. This small miniature specimen comes from the remarkable systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021). It presents a lovely classic assemblage with a fine-grained Chalcopyrite and Galena-rich sulphide bearing matrix upon which is balanced a well-formed orange-brown resinous Chondrodite crystal to 9 mm across. Other Chondrodite crystals are embedded within the matrix. Almost certainly a very old specimen, this is a fine miniature from this important historic European locality.
