Tuesday Update – USA Fluorite
Thomas CotterellShare
FLUORITE is our theme this week, but with specimens all coming from the United States. It is surprising how many great Fluorite localities there are in the US and we have been blessed to see specimens from these in the collections we have acquired.
First and foremost, is Arvid Pasto’s specific Fluorite collection, and being based in the US he had a very strong suite of American classics. You can see many of these here with a good number having featured as illustrations within his book, Collector’s Guide to Fluorite.
Arizona and New Mexico are particularly important states when it comes to beautifully crystallized specimens and these are well represented in collections we have recently acquired. Some of the specimens are relatively recent discoveries, but others have considerable historic pedigree.
Further afield, the famous Illinois-Kentucky Fluorspar District is well covered and Colorado too. Then there are few other isolated classics from Utah, New Hampshire and even Alaska.
Next week, our newsletter and update will be released on the morning of our Summer Open Day in the UK on Saturday June 6th, with our Open Day extending into the morning of Sunday June 7th. Hopefully, the wonderful weather we have been having here in the UK continues until then.
Our drawers and cabinets of British specimens are brimming with choice classics for you to enjoy and we have a comprehensive suite of West Country (Cornwall/Devon) Cassiterite from the rarest of remote localities, exquisite old labelled pieces and superb crystals too. UK Mining Ventures’ Fluorite displays and drawers are looking magnificent and are complimented by new additions of classic northern English Fluorites recently released from the Jesse Fisher and Joan Kureczka Collection.
For now, enjoy the Fluorite, and if you have any questions do please get in touch.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are all situated at our US showroom.
