During the 1990s and early 2000s the Homestake-Jack Pot mine in Oatman Mining District in Mohave County, northwest Arizona, produced some of the finest Fluorites ever found in Arizona. Modified, slightly stepped octahedral crystals were the dominant crystal form, and usually sea-green in colour, but rarer purple colour-zoned crystals were found too. This large miniature specimen displays a superb 3.0 x 2.5 cm octahedral crystal sat upon a small piece of Quartz-rich matrix. This crystal is translucent and generally colourless, to extremely pale grey-green, but with purple lines marking an outer band along the dividing edges, presenting as a 'cross' shape centrally. Smaller, poorly formed Fluorite crystals of a similar colour occur around the base of the main crystal, but it is the larger crystal that is the centrepiece. Ex Paul Matt.
