Tuesday Update – Rare Species
Thomas CotterellShare
THIS week we bring to you a bumper edition of rare species, with 36 specimens, which between them contain at least 42 unusual, or rare minerals.
Included within these are species from their Type Localities, crystals from what is considered the premier locality for the species and historic specimens with very old collector and dealer labels. We are regularly acquiring collections, many of which contain historically important labels and our ethos is to preserve these for future collectors and where possible to document their significance.
Many of the specimens this week are at the lower end of our pricing, offering you the opportunity to expand your systematic suite of specimens into some really unusual species. Many of these are also accompanied by classic old labels, showing their heritage and history too. As always, if you have specific wants, be that species or historic collector labels, drop us a message and we will be happy to search our inventory for you.
This week there are also some higher priced pieces, notably, one of the world’s finest crystallized Bannisterite specimens from the famous cavity on the 12 Level at Zinc Corporation mine, Broken Hill, Australia in 1966. Its association with pink Rhodonite is unique to Broken Hill, but this bright pink combo was only found in the one cavity in 1966.
Have fun looking through these fascinating specimens and learning about some exotic sounding species.
Next week sees our Spring Showcase event at the Tucson Fine Mineral Gallery. Our team would love to see you there, but in case you can’t make it next week’s newsletter will be full of American minerals for you to enjoy.
Have a wonderful week.
Please note: Today's featured specimens are situated at both our US and UK showrooms.
