This is an exceptional old-time miniature specimen of the unusual cobalt nickel sulphide species Siegenite from the Type Locality area of Müsen in Siegerland, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Originally labelled as Linnaeite and Siegenite on Galena it is now evident that no analyses of specimens from Müsen reach Linnaeite (fully cobalt sulphide) in composition. With a matrix of several, large, grey metallic, cubic Galena crystals with naturally truncated corners, their crystal faces are richly adorned with 1 to 1.5 mm darker grey metallic cubo-octahedral Siegenite crystals. Many of these Siegenite crystals are damaged, but their presence still looks wonderful, showing the marvellous paragenetic association for which Müsen is famed, and actually there are many wonderful undamaged Siegenite crystals too. It is from the wonderful systematic collection assembled by brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) in Germany.
