This large, matrixless, doubly-terminated bipyramidal crystal of Zircon with extremely good shape comes from the world-famous Seiland Island in the far north of Arctic Norway. At 3 cm in length and weighing 72 grams, this is an impressive Zircon crystal by any measure, but being from Seiland it is very lustrous and has a rich, deep burgundy-red to brown colour and although dark, is translucent with internal flashes of brightness. It has a small broken surface down one edge and very slight chipping in a couple of other places, but overall is in really excellent condition for its size and appears to be a floater, with no obvious point of attachment. Its label, from the collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021), refers to a very specific locality of Storjordtind about which nothing is known.
