Stannite, despite being quite widespread worldwide in small amounts is usually massive in its form, with distinct crystals virtually unheard of until the discoveries at Yaogangxian mine, Yizhang County, Hunan Province, China in the early 2000s. This quite pretty miniature specimen from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) is from that find, and features a single, slightly rounded, 1.2 cm wide bright brassy metallic Stannite crystal perched upon one end of an aggregate of platy Muscovite mica crystals with minor colourless Fluorite and Quartz also present. A wonderful Stannite crystal.
