Spessartine Garnet in Galena is one of the major classics from North Mine at Broken Hill in New South Wales, Australia and this specimen is a beautiful and magnificent example. Embedded in a granular matric of greyish-silver Galena and clove-brown Spessartine are three impressive, perfectly developed dodecahedral crystals of reddish-clove-brown Spessartine measuring respectively to 1.8, 1.7 and 1.5 cm wide. The crystal faces are mirror bright with a glassy lustre, each bounded by sharp, superbly defined edges. A top quality Spessartine Garnet in Galena from North Mine at Broken Hill.
