Sperrylite is a highly collectible platinum arsenide mineral on account of its propensity to form exceptionally bright, silvery metallic crystals, but also because it contains the precious metal platinum. This super-rich large miniature specimen heralds from one of the most famous Sperrylite locations: the Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, at Taimyr Peninsula, Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia. With a solid, light yellow metallic Chalcopyrite matrix, a very rich 3.5 cm by 2 cm area of bright intergrown silvery Sperrylite crystals (individually measuring to 5 mm) graces the top surface. Micro-crystals of Magnetite and probably other platinum-based species are also present. This is a really fine specimen of this elite-level mineral species. Ex Professor Werner Paar Collection.
