An almost entirely hidden, elongated mound of mixed polycrystalline sulphides is very richly encrusted with superb translucent to semi-transparent pseudo-scalenohedral crystals of colourless Smithsonite. From the Tsumeb mine in Namibia, the Smithsonite crystals are typically 5 to 7 mm long and form beautifully sharp and well-defined three-sided steep pyramids. Their prism faces are all vertically striated giving a brushed silky-satin sheen. A most handsome Tsumeb Smithsonite.
