Skutterudite is an unusual cobalt arsenide species recorded from quite a considerable number of localities worldwide, but rarely in good crystals. Aghbar mine in Bou Azzer District, Morocco is widely accepted as having produced the world's best crystals due to their combination of perfection in form, size and bright silvery metallic appearance. This large miniature specimen from the superb systematic collection assembled by the brothers Martin and Michael Günther (1951-2007 & 1956-2021) probably dates to the wave of fine crystallized specimens which came to market during the early 21st century. Mounted for display on an acryllic base it features several very sharp, well-formed truncated octahedron Skutterudite crystals with bright silvery metallic lustre. The largest crystal, near the top of the specimen is 2 cm in diameter. Many other smaller Skutterudite crystals of the same form are aggregated lower down displaying some nice crystal faces. A fine large miniature of this unusual species.
