Richly coloured deep red-brown, gemmy, lustrous, scalenohedral crystals of Rhodochrosite measuring to 5 mm are clustered and scattered over translucent, botryoidal blue Chalcedony coating a grey manganese-oxide matrix from the N'Chwaning mines in South Africa. The colour of the Chalcedony really makes this a stunning miniature, being an inky teal blue with a waxy to greasy lustre. The contrast between the red Rhodochrosite and blue Chalcedony is beautiful and unusual.
