A simple classic, but a beautiful one at that. Although called a mine, the Collier Creek mine is more of a quarry and has produced tons of fine Quartz crystals, some of a colossal size. Opened in 1865 it continued until 1912, specifically producing fine Quartz crystals. It reopened in the 1980s and continues to produce large display specimens. This really well-balanced smaller cabinet-sized display specimen is in superb condition and displays wonderfully well as an aesthetic spray of good-sized crystals with a larger (6.5 cm) focal crystal rising from the centre. The crystals are crystal clear - the variety Rock Crystal - and pristine apart from one small chip to the second largest crystal splaying out to the side. A very attractive display of Quartz crystals for the price and a proper American classic.
