Iconic classic Les Farges mine orange Pyromorphite on cream coloured Baryte and in an impressively large size for display. A complex crystallized (but not obvious crystals) bladed undulating dense aggregate of creamy-white Baryte with an orange coating of iron oxides is partially coated on both sides in classic, burnt-orange coloured, resinous, seed-like Pyromorphite crystals up to 5 mm in length. The Pyromorphite crystals appear to line cavities within the Baryte, but on the front display surface these 'cavities' are exposed and stand outwards, whilst on the rear the cavities lined with Pyromorphite are recessed. The Pyromorphite crystals are in remarkably fine condition on both sides of this piece, with a few broken 'stumps' on the more exposed front, but these are not obvious at first glance and the larger areas of radiating sprays and carpets of parallel crystals are very nice indeed. Its size allows it to make a fine statement as everyone can appreciate such a European classic. Ex the collection of the Very Reverend Michael Keirle, Dean of Jersey.
