Les Farges mine in central France is arguably Europe's premier Pyromorphite location. There are of course other candidates, but when you see the very best specimens from Les Farges mine you will understand why. The variety of colours and forms are diverse, but the one which is unique on a world scale is the wheat-brown to fudge-brown colour with yellow-zoned tips. These can take the form of elongated tapering prisms, hoppered crystals and, in this case, hexagonal prisms with pyramidal terminations. This might be a miniature specimen and the individual crystals quite small, but it is exceptional in its detail, featuring extremely well-formed glossy prismatic Pyromorphite crystals aggregated together in a pure layer. The individual crystals reach 4 mm in length but most are around 2 mm in length but superb in form and coating the specimen in 360 degrees. Ex David Hardman collection.
