Drusy vugs lined with Quartz running down one side of a triangular-shaped piece of more massive Quartz are seen to contain sprays of grey metallic flattened bladed Pyrolusite crystals, the largest crystal of which reaches over 1.2 cm in length. This is a very typical example of this manganese oxide species from the famous Taylor mine, a former open pit iron mine in Baraga County, Michigan, USA. Ex David Hardman Collection, although undated, this specimen most likely came to David in the 1970s or 1980s.
