A very rich and showy rare cabinet-sized crystallized specimen of the rare silver sulphosalt Proustite from the famous Jáchymov District in Czechia. Well-formed dark grey metallic crystals of Proustite liberally carpet large areas of an open cavity on the specimen, with individual crystals measuring to 4 mm in length. Metallic grey in colour, with strong illumination and under magnification their blood-red internal colour shines through, on a contrasting creamy crystallized Dolomite matrix. A metallic yellow group of Chalcopyrite crystals sits at the centre of the specimen partly coated by a minor deposition of biscuit coloured Siderite druse and at least one small wire of Native Silver is also present. This is an exceedingly rich crystallized Proustite from this important old European location, and although the crystals are small, most are absolutely damage-free and show amazing crystal form. Ex Simone and Peter Huber Collection, no. 1199. An elite-level Proustite.
