A most special small cabinet specimen of crystallised Paracelsian from Benallt mine on the Lleyn Peninsula of Gwynedd, Wales. Benallt was a manganese mine first opened in 1886 and has produced almost forty mineral species of which it is type locality to four. It is perhaps best known for Paracelsian, a barium-aluminium silicate and this specimen is a fine and rich example composed of intergrown white, cream and colourless crystals. The largest crystals measure to about 2 cm long and form flattened chisel tipped terminations. This specimen was collected in 1911 by Sir Arthur Russell and is accompanied by a British Museum (Natural History) Department of Mineralogy label.
