Within what is known as the Copper Country, the region extending all along the Keweenaw Peninsula, one of its most famous localities is Calumet & Hecla mine by the town of Calumet. Although this specimen falls within the miniature category, it is extremely dense, rich in both Native Copper and Native Silver, both of which form hackly networks and patches across the specimen's surfaces, including every side and ends. Both metals pervade the intergranular pore space so rigidly cementing the matrix of highly angular white Quartz grains. The Native Copper is a brick red copper colour while the Native Silver varies from true silver to a tarnished bronze-silver with occasional iridescent patches. A super-rich specimen of Native Copper and Silver the from iconic C&H mine.
