Not quite a Samurai sword, but the unusual elongated flattened form of this 32 cm long hackly Native Copper from the famous Central mine in Keweenaw Co., Michigan certainly gives it an unusual bladed appearance. Entirely natural, the richness of the pure copper masses within the Michigan copper mines is sometimes hard to appreciate, especially when Native Copper is ordinarily quite rare. Its natural origin here is conveyed by inclusions of the original fragmentary Quartz, scattered within, and inbetween, the Native Copper on this piece. Not crystals of Native Copper for which Central mine is famed, but certainly an unusual Central mine specimen nevertheless. Ex David Hardman Collection.
