Little is recorded about the mineralogy of the Kozhym’yu deposit, Kozhim River Basin, Komi Republic, Russia. This polished mount/section, from a well known rare species collection in Austria, reportedly contains Mertieite-I, Isomertieite, Gold, Fuschite, Epidote-(Ce) and Caysichite-(Y). The sample contains two grains, 7 x 2.5 mm and 3.5 x 1.5 mm, but it is the smaller of the two that is marked with an arrow. For polished sections like these, reflected light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are usually required for accurate identifications and the carbon coating present on this one indicates that it has been analysed by SEM. This is not our usual type of specimen, but is included due to its rarity. Examples of these rare species from this occurrence are few and far between. The overall measurements provided indicate the size of the polished block.
