Despite a few areas of contact damage this is a fascinating and beautiful crystallized Hydroxyapophyllite from N'Chwaning II mine in the Kalahari Mn. Field, North Cape Province, South Africa. Less well-known than the ubiquitous crystals from India, these Hydroxyapophyllite crystals display an insane level of crystallographic detail reminiscent of a colourless version of the famous Jeffrey mine Grossular garnets. Under magnification their stepped faces are mind-blowing to the extreme. Probably dating to the 1990s, this material is recorded, but not seen available very often. Despite the bruising to a few crystals, most are immaculate in form. A South African classic.
