In the 1970s and 1980s a group of collectors in Washington state discovered some superb Grossular garnet exposures at Vesper Peak in Sultan District, Snohomish County. The Grossular crystals were extremely gemmy and some reached over a centimetre in size. However, over the intervening years many of the specimens have disappeared and very few good examples are known today, and those which are tend to be quite small - in the miniature to small cabinet size. This small cabinet specimen is a really nice example with lustrous, gemmy crystals on two sides. There is some damage, in places, but overall this is a quite large and extremely presentable specimen from this famous American locality.
