A thin plate of creamy-grey Quartz, covered with micro Quartz crystals, is richly coated with beautiful arborescent growths of crystallised Native Gold to 2 cm long, lying flat across the matrix's surface. From the classic Romanian locality at Ro?ia Montan' in Alba County, the Gold is a rich brassy colour with robust individual thick crystals intergrown to form the branch-like fronds. As is so often the case with Native Gold, the structures and crystal habits are even more spectacular when studied through a low magnification loop or hand lens. The specimen comes with an 'F.H. Butler, late , Mineralogist' label and is from a nineteenth-century British collection. A historic and splendid crystallised Native Gold from Ro?ia Montan' in Romania.
