Pale golden-honey to dark honey-lemon cubes of Fluorite form intergrown crystals over a matrix of massive Fluorite from the cobalt-silver mining area at Frohnau, Annaberg-Buchholz, in the Annaberg District of Saxony, Germany. The crystals are all over 2 cm on edge, but one exceptional cube measures 5.6 cm along one edge. The Fluorite is translucent with a patchy honey-yellow colour and delicate near-surface zoning. Most of the cube faces are coated in a very thin, but opaque, film of micro-crystallised cream Quartz. Under LWUV the Fluorite fluoresces deep royal purple and the Quartz, dull lemon-yellow. A very good specimen from the mines around Annaberg-Buchholz.
