A very distinctive crystal aggregate of mint-green translucent octahedral Fluorite from Riemvasmaak in Northern Cape Province, South Africa. This style of Fluorite is so iconic of Riemvasmaak that it almost doesn't require a label. Forming a sculptural off-matrix grouping of sharp octahedral crystals in a diverse range of sizes it presents really nicely with great character provided by a range of wispy inclusions inside the translucent to transparent Fluorite crystals. Sometimes the crystals from Riemvasmaak can become almost too large as to be cumbersome, but these are just right for a smaller display piece. The main octahedral crystal reaches 3.1 cm tip to tip and is really well-formed and in great condition but with a linear group of smaller crystals developed along one edge. Most of the Fluorite crystals along the top edge of this specimen are damage-free, with the only significant damage along its base. A really fine smaller display piece of this classic type of Fluorite.
