This small cabinet specimen of Fluorite from South Crofty mine in Cornwall has great history to it. Most recently it was in the collection of Glyn Cunnick, but was previously owned by Cedric Rogers who many in Britain will remember for his books on mineral collecting in Cornwall and Devon (1968) and the wider "Rocks and Minerals" title (1973). This specimen doesn't naturally sit perfectly for display, but has great character. Comprising a vein of Fluorite with a kaleidoscope of colours, ranging from sea-blue, to purple and colourless, several cavities display cubic crystals in lovely stepped patterns. Other areas display cleavage surfaces of Fluorite with lovely colour and this is enhanced by an iridescent patch of Chalcopyrite and reddish iron oxide mineralization. A really interesting Cornish Fluorite.
