The Weißeck Area near Salzburg, Austria is well known for producing Fluorite specimens with some of the explorations on this steep mountain dating back to the 18th century. The Fluorite from there is known to occur in a range of different colours and crystal forms, some extremely complex. This cabinet-sized flat plate of Fluorite crystals displays complex twinning of cubic crystals in a deep purple colour. The lustre is not especially bright and the crystals are quite opaque, but they are well formed and undamaged. An old style accompanying label suggests that the specimen might date to the later 19th century.
