A small cabinet specimen of mauve Fluorite labelled as from the area of Vosges in the Grand Est Region of France, a location very rarely encountered in mineral collections. However, we have been advised that this piece is probably more precisely located to a limestone quarry at Bergheim in the mountains at Vogue. Pale mauve Fluorite crystals to 8 mm encrust the top surface of a hard crystalline limestone matrix with several Baryte blades scattered towards the edges. The display face is underlain by strongly cemented, highly brecciated limestone whose protruding shards are covered in tan micro-crystals of Quartz. The Fluorite contains subtle colour zoning and occasionally deviates from the cube to partly octahedral. A most attractive Fluorite from a seldomly seen and good location! It is accompanied with the previous collector's label.
