A beautiful flat plate covered in equant sea-green Fluorite crystals from the world-famous Height's mine at Westgate in Weardale, County Durham, England. A feature on the Height's quarry and mine appeared in Peter Bancroft's 1984 book 'Gem and Crystal Treasures', memorably showing the mine entrance deep in snow! The Fluorite crystals, of up to 1.7 cm on edge, are semi-transparent with multiple-stepped faces sprinkled with micro-crystals of glassy and gemmy clear Quartz. In daylight the Fluorite exhibits weak daylight fluorescence, with the edges of some cubic crystals tinged dull mauve and purple. A terrific representative Fluorite from this most famous of Weardale localities!
