This beautiful example of Epistilbite is from the Jalgaon District in Maharashtra, India. Epistilbite is a hydrated calcium-aluminium silicate, differing from Stilbite by the degree of hydration and the addition of either a sodium, potassium or additional calcium atom. This small cabinet specimen forms colourless to milky white translucent, stacked blades of Epistilbite richly covering a neatly trimmed basalt matrix. India Zeolites are among the very finest examples in the world and this is yet another demonstration of just how good the species can crystallise.
