A striking miniature displaying well-formed clusters and single crystals of deep maroon red Cuprite surrounded by an uninterrupted druse of glassy Dolomite crystals. From Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia, the Cuprite forms as individual crystals measuring to 8 mm on a domed matrix of solid Cuprite, the majority of which is hidden by the overgrowth of Dolomite crystals. These have a bright lustre which sparkle around the embedded Cuprite, so giving a good contrast between the component species. Many of the Cuprite clusters are composed of composite, stacked cubic crystals and there is at least one fine and perfect dodecahedral crystal. All the Cuprite has a metallic lustre while some adopts an additional, slightly waxy appearance. This is a really showy Cuprite with Dolomite from Tsumeb.
