A superb and old-time specimen of peppermint green Cornwallite from the Potts Gill mine, set on the lower northern slopes of High Pike, the most northerly of all the mines in the Caldbeck Fells of Cumbria, only about 1 km (as the crow flies) south east of the village of Fellside. An iron-stained Quartz veinstone matrix is richly pervaded and coated with earthy, light peppermint-green to micro-botryoidal deep emerald-green Cornwallite, occasionally surrounded with microcrystalline sucrosic Quartz. A first-class specimen of this well-documented occurrence of Cornwallite in the Caldbeck Fells of the English Lake District. The specimen is accompanied with three previous labels, one of which is an interesting “Scott Williams Mineral Co., of Scottsdale, Arizona”.
