This classic variety of Nickelskutterudite, named Chloanthite, is from the Pöhla mining district in Saxony, Germany. The variety Cloanthite was reported to be arsenic-deficient Nickelskutterudite by Michael Fleischer in 1987. Triangular-shaped crystals of Nickelskutterudite have developed stacked upon each other in a Christmas tree-like structure. The crystals, which measure to about 1.5 cm, are a metallic silver tin-white, partly coated by a creamy white undefined mineral.
