This beautiful miniature of botryoidal Chalcopyrite, the variety known as Blister Copper, is from one of the most famous mines in Cornwall, that of Dolcoath, to the east of Camborne. Dolcoath was Cornwall's largest and deepest mine with underground workings extending from Roskear extending towards Tuckingmill Valley. Cook's Kitchen mine, which is probably the most famous locality for Blister Copper is the next mine along the valley in Pool. This particular specimen is from the late Kieth Snell collection and display prominent, elongated blisters of golden, brassy Chalcopyrite with a rough, frosted texture and speckled metallic lustre.
