A large thumbnail/small miniature group of lustrous Cassiterite crystals from Krásno in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. The district around the town of Krásno was mined for tin and tungsten. The highly lustrous, black metallic crystals are developed up to 2 cm on edge and display elegant contact twins with distinct re-entrant faces. The crystals sit on a Quartz grain-supported matrix with a pervasive infilling of natural silica-rich cement. A superb and delightful example of crystallised Cassiterite.
